Posture
At rest the elbows are slightly bent. There are variations in the posture between individuals, and men and women, in general. Check whether your elbow sits the same as the non-effected elbow. You may need someone else to look for you.
Flexion
With arm by side and palm facing forward, bend elbow and wrist as if bringing fingers towards shoulder.

Finger tips can touch the shoulder = 100%.
finger tip from shoulder = 3cm = 80%
finger tip from shoulder = 7cm = 50%
Elbow that can't bend more than right angle (I_) = 0%

Write as Flexion = e.g 80%
Extension
With arm is by side, palm facing forward, straighten elbow as fully as can. Compare both sides.

Elbow can straighten or hyperextend = full = 100%
For every 1/10th of the movement between full extension and right angle that can't be performed, subtract 10% from 100% . Compare with unaffected elbow.
Elbow that can't straighten more than right angles(I_) = 0%

Write as Flexion = e.g 80%
Supination
With the elbow bent at 90 degrees (square), the hand open, and the thumb pointing upward (zero degrees), turn the hand backward to face upward.

Movement:
Palm face up and back of hand flat on table = 100%
Hand on edge and thumb straight up = 0%
Estimate percentage between 0 & 100% e.g. back of hand on a 45 degree angle from table = 50%

Write as Supination = e.g 50%
Pronation
With the elbow bent at 90 degrees (square), the hand open, and the thumb pointing up (zero degrees), turn the hand downward, palm to table.

Movement:
Palm face down on table = 100%
Hand on edge and thumb straight up = 0%
Estimate percentage between 0% & 100% e.g. palm of hand on a 45 degree angle from table = 50%

Write as Pronation = e.g 50%
